With respect to her advocacy role over the rampaging Coronavirus pandemic, the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences has recognised Her Royal Majesty, Obi Martha Dunkwu, Omu Anioma as a Community Immunity Ambassador, being a critical stakeholder in creating awareness and fighting against the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
At the Omu Anioma Palace in Okpanam, the delegation known as CSO Emergency Intervention Group, also working with the University, presented the certificate of completion for Community Immunity Ambassador program to Omu Dunkwu, while commending her for all the efforts she had put in place to educate and enlighten women on their health, especially with regards to Covid-19.
Addressing the Omu on behalf of the CSO group, the State Chapter Coordinator, Mrs. Augusta Impact affirmed the organisation’s implicit confidence in working with Omu Anioma to accomplish the goals of the University, which is titled “Let’s Break The Chain of Covid-19 Infection”.
She also implored the Omu to assist the group with a list of vulnerable women in Aniocha/Oshimili area to be given palliatives as a way of alleviating their vulnerability during the Covid-19 lockdown.
According to Madam Impact, “We as CSO Emergency Intervention Group are working closely with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to intervene by giving palliatives to vulnerable persons in Delta. We have the State Chapter, Zonal Chapters and then Local Government Area Chapters for the purposes of meeting them right where they are”.
However, Omu Dunkwu thanked the group for the great work they had done already and were still doing.
She noted that humanitarian work is tasking but gives satisfaction as nothing equates with the happiness that comes from touching lives.
She affirmed that all she had achieved in life came as a result of working for humanity then under the Lions International.
The highbrow culture icon as a matter of encouragement, charged them to keep doing their best for humanity, no matter the distractions, which she noted must come.
She further told them about her proposed Omu Martha Dunkwu Girl Child Foundation which is already being developed by a Consultant with the European Union, Prof. Dele Sonubi.
The Omu therefore, called on them to join her in actualising the dream, which according to her would focus on educating and training the girl child to acquire knowledge and skills to fulfill her purpose in life and defend her rights.
She at the conclusion of her response, conducted her visitors round the building designated for the take off of the Foundation and different offices already furnished therein.
