Sir Monday Onyeme, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue(DBIR) has urged the people of Delta State to pay their taxes as Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s administration is committed to the transformation of the State to an enviable height that will be unequalled in the country. This was made known on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the DBIR headquarters, Warri when addressing the issue of taxation.
Sir Onyeme said the achievements of the Okowa’s led administration was as a result of the provision of basic amenities to the people of Delta State and He said for this to continue, Deltans have to embrace taxation. According to him:
“When we Support the Government by Paying our taxes regularly and accordingly there will be enough resources to Speedup Development because the Federal Allocation is not enough to Shoulder the financial Implications of all the Projects that will better the lives of the People hence Payment of taxes will help the Government to Chest all financial Projects that will Speedily Develop all areas of the State.”
The Executive Chairman of DBIR urged informal sectors in Delta State to embrace taxation with absolute compliance as tax evaders/defaulters will face the wrath of the law because tax payment is obligatory and it is backed by the law.
He further said that the development of a State is a collective effort and that people of Delta State should play their own part in the development of the State by paying their taxes.
