Following the arrest of the overall Leader of the dreaded Badoo cult, the Lagos state police had on Tuesday achieved a major feat with the apprehension of the cult’s herbalist, Fatai Adebayo, AKA Alese.
The notorious group terrorized the Ikordu and Epe axis of the state and killing many residents during their attacks and crushing the heads of their victims with motar and pestle.
According to reports, Adebayo aged 34, was said to have been the one who administered oaths to members whenever they went on attacks.
He was caught in Imosan village, a suburban area of Ijebu-ode, Ogun state, where his shrine was located.
Speaking while parading Adebayo before journalists at the shrine, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, said the head of the group was arrested on water during an attempt to escape.
The CP, who led the operation involving the Commander of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), ACP Tunji Disu; Chairman of Lagos State Special Task Force, SP Yinka Egbeyemi, among others, said investigation was still ongoing but that the full details about the arrests made so far would be disclosed on Thursday at a press briefing.
However, Adebayo’s shrine which stood at No 38, Ayegbami Quarters in Imosan, was later destroyed by policemen, various charms and huge stones used in the perpetration of hideous crimes were also discovered.
