Dismissed Zimbabwean Vice President Returns

Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe’s former vice president whose sack, in the week before, sparked off the overthrow of Mugabe’s regime, has returned to the country.

Mnangagwa, who has been named as a potential successor to President Robert Mugabe, had returned on Thursday after nearly a week in exile.

However,  Mugabe has refused to resign, and is believed to be “buying time” to negotiate the terms of his departure from office.
