Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to depart for his medical trip to India.
This was made possible following the court order by the Kaduna State High Court granting the Sheikh and his wife a leave to embark on a medical trip in any hospital of their choice in India having spent over three years in detention.
The Department of State Services has released them according to the court order for the medical trip and return for the continuation of their ongoing trial after discharge from the hospital.
It was reported that the IMN leader and his wife has already arrived the Abuja Airport and waiting for their flight to Medenta Hospital, New Delhi, India.
According to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Spokesman, Ibrahim Musa:
“Yes, the Sheikh has arrived at the airport with his wife for their trip to India. They would be leaving in the next few hours. “
The court has ordered that they should be accompanied by the DSS Operatives and it was also learnt that they would be travelling in a private aircraft.
The conditions to be met for the trip, as demanded by the Kaduna State Government was that their medical appointments should be confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that all diplomatic arrangements and protocols should be followed accordingly.
And also that the Federal Government should liase with the Indian Government to ensure that in no situation must the Indian Government allow any application from the dependants or any third party seeking asylum and they should be treated as medical patients, and not regard them as political prisoners or any other status.
