MEET EMMEY, A COMPOSER OF MTN CALLER TUNES YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU CALL MTN LINES

Unknown to you, you have on some occasions been listening to Emmey when you call MTN lines. That entertainer is Emmanuel Ifechukwude Egbune from Anioma’s Ibusa.

Recently, Emmey performed in Ibusa, his hometown at the 7th All Ibusa Singles Conference on December 28, organised by Ibusa Singles Meet and later performed at the 3rd Annual End-Of-Year-Party of People of Oshimili North (PoON) also in Ibusa same day.

At the PoON event, Emmey quietly walked up to PEN MASTER and handed him a copy of his album titled ‘Season’s Greetings From Emmey’, a 6-track album with ‘Onwa December’, ‘Oyibiri’, ‘Koni Ft. Davido’, ‘Spend Up’, ‘Wanne’ and ‘Heaven’

He started his musical career at the age of 20 and has been a former band member of DeAGE.

Speaking to Anioma Voice Newsmagazine recently on his successes in the entertainment industry, Emmey said:

“To me, music is life. My music is all about reasons to live. Lyrics and rhythms are the most essential ingredients in my music”

“I have worked with a couple of popular artistes and producers among whom is David Adeleke AkA ‘Davido’. My working with Davido on a track titled “What is the way” or “Koni” as some title it, was a pure case of love for good music. Davido is one artiste that I respect for many things among which is his love and delivery of good music. It happened that he heard the track through his former Manager, Mr Kamal Ajiboye while we were still at the production stage. He loved the song and didn’t mind being part of the project. For me it was my pleasure to have him on the song. Everything was facilitated by Mr Kamal Ajiboye whom I also had a management affiliation with then.
Davido invited me to his house and recorded his part in his studio free of charge. The project also served as a motivating factor for me”

Expressing his concern about the degeneration of value system among the Nigerian youths, he said further to Anioma Voice Newsmagazine:

“As you can see, our value system has degenerated so much that quick money (not withstanding the source) is the measure of success, thereby putting many, especially the youths are on the fast lane. My advice for my fellow youths is to redefine their value system to reflect self actualization, dignity of labour and true fulfilment. By so doing, our society will become a better place to live”.

Emmey started working with MTN Sales and Distribution Department in 2010 and in 2013 being the maiden edition of #MTNGotTalents, emerged the winner in the singing category together with two of his colleagues.

He was inspired to write some songs relating to the activities of the brand. One of which is a song titled “I care” later adopted as the official theme song for the MTN 21days of Yellow Care (An annual 21day public/humanitarian service by MTN staff, scheduled every June).

Emmey also creates content used as monthly ring back tune for VAS providers who partner with MTN and other telecoms.

His latest single titled “Heaven” dropped on the January 1, 2019. This song has Anioma dialect as the major part of the chorus.

At the People of Oshimili North event, he performed in front of a fairly large audience that had in attendance, Chief Kizito Ijeh, Initiator of the Organization, Dr Austin’s Izagbo, the President-General of Ibusa Community Development Union, Chief Amaechi Nwaenie, the Uwolo of Ibusa, Chief Fred Ajudua, the Onwanetili Oha of Ibusa, Onowu Mark Nnabundo Ogoegbunem, Dr Priscilla Okelele, Novelist, Philip Ngozi Ifechukwude, Mr. Anthony Onyeisi Ajukwu, popularly called ‘Shady Shay’ and yours sincerely, Pen Master, among others.

Emmey who hails from Umuodafe Quarter of Ibusa told Pen Master in a telephone chat that he is currently working on his EP which has 6-tracks.

Wherever they go, they make Anioma proud!
