Lagos Bus Driver, 41yr Rapes 78yr Old Woman

By Sir Gabriel Otioma—LAGOS. Many believes that Lagos state is one of the most domestic violence and sexually abuses state in Nigeria because of the high records of rape cases and domestic violence. In 2017, Lagos State recorded high domestic violence and rape cases in Nigeria to top other states.
A 41-year-old commercial bus driver, Jelili Lawal, has been arrested for allegedly raping a stranded 78-year-old woman, in Oloti community, in Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos.

The old woman whose identity was undisclosed was said to have missed road on her way home, January 1st, 2019. However, she starts asking commuters questions on how she could find her to Ketu from Maryland, Ikeja, Jelli, a bus driver promised to take her there in his bus.

However, while on the go, Jelili reportedly detoured to Oloti village, off Adeniyi Jones, where he raped the 78yr old woman. In the process, the victim raised alarm that caught the attention of someone in the neighborhood, who called the Police.

The Police caught the suspect in the act and rescued the old woman, who was already bleeding from her private part as a result of the rape and assault on her dignity. The victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment, while the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over.

However, the suspect has denied the allegation, saying that his wife’s friend, who saw him with the old woman, raised the false alarm and said he could never raped an 78yr old woman.
