George Weah has won the presidential run-off election in Liberia to become the 25th president of the country. Weah won the presidency of Liberia after securing victory 12 of the 15 counties in the west African country.
The Ex-AC Milan striker defeated 73-year-old Joseph Boakai, who has been the country’s vice president for the last 12 years. Both candidates have, however, agreed to respect the results as long there is no case of electoral fraud.
The Former AC Milan International is also the first African footballer to win the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or.
Weah has taken to Twitter to appreciate all his supporters, saying that he plans to liberate the country.
